This week we have an amazing juice recipe from my great friend Kristen Sheppard, the founder of MadBetty.com, where she covers everything from food to pop culture to entertainment. She is a specialist when it comes to the Austin, TX area, but Mad Betty will be sure to cover anything cool enough : ) !!

A Summer Juice to Savor

Juicing is a hot trend right now as people look for easy and delicious ways to increase the vitamins and nutrients in their diets. Most of us think of delicious citrus or apple-based juices, but sometimes it’s nice to enjoy a sip of light refreshment without the sweetness.
Don’t let the raw garlic scare you! It packs a punch and helps build the immune system, lowers blood pressure, and can kill bad bacteria. But this powerful force of nature doesn’t need to overpower your taste buds. It partners well with assertive, clean flavors like lemon and basil, balancing out the pungent spiciness.
This recipe only calls for one clove of garlic, but give it a taste and add more if you like. Simply put the following ingredients in your juicer, pour over ice, and savor by the pool.

  • 2 Tomatoes
  • 2 Celery Stalks
  • 1 Cucumber
  • 1 Lemon
  • 4 Large Basil Leaves
  • ¼ Jalapeno, seeds included
  • 1 Garlic Clove
